It is a well developed tourist destination that is very popular among people from throughout the world.

However, if you are planning your stay during dryer months of the year, you may want to book your reservations several months ahead.

By the way, those dryer months may not be the same as what you would expect because July and August experience a lot of rain and overcast skies as well as hurricanes and tropical storms during those months. Many people choose to Vacation in Barbados during the winter months as they are trying to escape the frigid temperatures of winter.

When you are ready to take your Barbados Vacation you will want to determine whether or not you would like to get there on a ship or by air. INTRODUCTION

Our never-ending mission to reveal the under-appreciated-yet-worthy-of-attention jazz
masters around the world has now taken us far away and across the sea to Mexico. Not
the first port of call you’d consider if you were looking for hard bop or modal jazz,
but here we have found an incredible jazz drummer whose career has spanned over 5
decades, and is still playing to this day. In that time Tino Contreras has produced
countless recordings, played on innumerable live dates, and has performed with
various jazz groups all around the world. Yet he is still relatively unknown, and
probably Mexico’s best kept secret in jazz.

We tell the story of the maverick that is Tino Contreras and showcase his unique and
fascinating career with 16 tracks, a 12 page colour CD booklet and a double gatefold
LP.

THE MUSIC

During his far-reaching travels over the years, all kinds of weird and wonderful
sounds have come to influence the music of the imaginative Mexican jazzman. Hear
latinesque ritual chants in Orfeo en los Tambores, insane percussion in the
high-tempo jazz-dance favourite What is This Thing Called Love, avant-garde
experimentation with a psychedelic subframe in Orbita, exotic waltz-time jazz in
Visnu and religiously-themed chamber jazz with choir in Credo, Santo and Gloria. Not
only that, but noted influences from India, Egypt, Turkey and Brasil create a most
fascinating jazz album, the likes of which you will most likely never have heard
before. Enjoy!

Bring Learning Italian to Life with Verbalplanet.com’s Personal Online Italian Tutors

(PRWEB) February 14, 2012

What’s the key to successfully learning Italian? – Practice, Practice, Practice!

Of the 4 key components to learning a foreign language: ‘Listening’, ‘Speaking’, ‘Reading’ and ‘Writing’, ‘Speaking’ is the odd one out. Why? – Because the other three can be done alone. It’s possible to listen to the radio alone, read a book alone or write a letter; however it’s impossible to take part in a conversation without the interaction of someone else. Practicing the ‘Speaking’ element of a new language is crucial to achieving fluency, which is why anyone seriously wanting to learn Italian should consider the online language tuition service offered by Verbalplanet.com. Their online Italian lessons are a great way to get the benefits of one to one Italian language training and tuition without any of the hassles of travelling, large class sizes or lack of an available Italian language teacher.

Verbalplanet.com offers a different and uniquely web based system to learning Italian through online language lessons with a personal tutor using Skype, the leading internet telephony service. The Verbalplanet.com system represents a very flexible approach to language learning with students being able to choose an online Italian tutor from anywhere in the world whilst also having the flexibility to schedule Italian classes around work or family commitments using a personal online tuition diary. Students can expect an extremely interactive experience during their Italian lessons with a tutor lead approach which focuses on verbal communication skills.

“Italian has always been one of the most popular languages to learn. Now using the internet anyone can bring their studies to life in a way not possible with traditional self study methods. Online Italian classes with a private tutor are a great way to build confidence in speaking the language as well as perfecting your accent and building fluency. A student that lacks confidence in their own ability will see a real improvement in their fluency under the guidance of a good tutor.” says Andy Moore of Verbalplanet.com.

Already in 2012 Verbalplanet.com has scooped up one more awards to add to the site’s collection, being voted one of the top three language learning solutions for Italian by leading consumer website Top Ten Reviews. Amongst the standout features noted by Top Ten Review’s were:

A personal Italian teacher who supports and guides you in an interactive environment.

Ability to select your own Italian teacher located anywhere in the world according to profile, ability, cost and more…

A flexible language training service which is effective and fun.

No fixed times – you choose when you want to learn and how often.

Each lesson is customized to the student’s level and capacity to learn the language.

One of the biggest benefits of learning a language online is the flexibility it offers. You can take an Italian class from home, work, at the airport, practically anywhere with an internet connection so it’s perfect for people learning Italian for business or pleasure alike. Using Verbalplanet.com anyone learning Italian can take an online class with a private Italian tutor wherever they are in the world. Adds Moore.

The online Italian language courses offered through Verbalplanet.com also enable the tutor to devote their attention to the student for a significant period of time, focusing far more on that particular student’s needs and abilities than is possible in a crowded classroom. The web based system offered by Verbal planet enables people to learn from home or work and aims to provide professional Italian language training at an affordable price whilst allowing the student to relax in familiar surroundings so they feel more confident and are more willing to discuss areas of difficulty.

The choice of Italian language tutors on Verbalplanet.com has been increasing steadily which means that it’s possible to select a Italian tutor that matches specific learning requirements or who is available at specific times of the day. Included with every Italian teacher listed on Verbalplanet.com is a profile of their tutoring background, qualifications and teaching approach, which allows the user to get to know a potential tutor before booking lesson time. The availability of a free trial Italian lesson also means that it’s possible to evaluate the service for free before committing to buying further lesson time.

Verbalplanet.com also supports a wide range of downloads and study aids for learning Italian including Italian audio lessons for MP3 players and iPods, structured Italian language courses in MP3 format and a comprehensive range of online or desktop Italian dictionaries, making any student’s quest to learn Italian a smooth and convenient one.

So now, thanks to the internet anyone can speak Italian like a native!

Jean-Luc Godard Films The Rolling Stones Recording “Sympathy for the Devil” (1968)

For anyone who enjoyed yesterday’s post, Jefferson Airplane Wakes Up New York; Jean-Luc Godard Captures It (1968), we’re resurrecting a golden oldie from the archive. Read on and you’ll see why…

In 2008, Martin Scorsese brought the Rolling Stones to film with Shine a Light. (Watch the trailer here.) But a good 40 years before that, another giant of modern cinema had a similar notion. Jean-Luc Godard, one of the founders of New Wave French cinema, directed Sympathy for the Devil during the tumultuous summer of 1968. The film is part rockumentary, part advertisement for left-wing ideals that were alive at the time. (There’s no real way to sugarcoat that.) Above, Godard takes you inside the recording sessions of the Rolling Stones’ classic, “Sympathy for the Devil.” As the clip goes on, you can see the song unfold.

One of our readers adds some more details:

There are two versions of this Jean-Luc Godard movie. The original version (director’s cut) is called “One Plus One”. In this first version Godard didn’t put the whole song in the editing because he wanted to make something reflexive and not an advertisement for the Rolling Stones. The producers were very angry and made another editing; their version is called “Sympathy for the Devil.”

Restorm.com Launches Cloud Service That Radically Automates Music Licensing

New York (PRWEB) February 23, 2012

Restorm launched rightclearing today at the prominent Social Music Summit in NYC attended by top tech and music executives. The cloud-based music licensing platform provides artists and music professionals a simplified solution that enables them to monetize content through an automated licensing system. In the midst of all the SOPA, PIPA, ACTA rhetoric, and never-ending licensing chaos in the market, rightclearing is well-poised to provide a concise and compelling solution to the needlessly complex licensing labyrinth.

The service announced a partnership with Rumblefish today, the world’s largest catalog for social media licenses that has closed deals with more than 5 million private users over the friendlymusic.com platform.

rightclearing simplifies the overly complex and antiquated existing procedure of music licensing by adding modern search technology, automated contracts and an easy payment process.

This allows anyone to simply purchase licenses for their project, whether for commercial or private use. By making it accessible to independent artist as well, rightclearing opens up and democratizes the music licensing business.

Joi Ito, head of the MIT Digital Media Lab and Chairman of the Creative Commons commented, I decided to join the restorm.com advisory board because rightclearing has the potential to radically renew the market for art licensing: it’s simple, innovative, transparent and fair. Restorm.com is showing the music industry and independent artists how much positive potential the digital revolution has brought. I see the future of music licensing in the open, transparent and innovative approach of rightclearing.

Many content creators who attempt to harness the power of YouTube, for example, unknowingly make themselves liable to prosecution by using their favorite songs for their videos. Rightclearing simplifies the existing procedure of music licensing by creating an easy way for them to license music just as simply and quickly as the process for uploading videos in the first place.

As a lawyer, I have been battling an outdated and complicated system of copyrights for more than a decade, said Philippe Perreaux, founder and CEO of Restorm.com. With the launch of rightclearing, my vision to establish a model that is transparent and free from chaos becomes a reality. By launching with Rumblefish, one of the leading platforms for social licensing, we look forward to further simplifying and radically democratizing the market for music licensing together.

Following the Creative Commons vision, the unique licensing platform from Restorm, rightclearing, has the sole purpose of benefiting artists by making sure they get a fair share for their work.

As independent artists with tight budgets struggle to survive, rightclearing offers them innovative tools that help them thrive and earn money by monetizing and simultaneously protecting their content.

Restorm.com is the first platform that enables independent artists to earn money with the usage rights to their songs as it provides its music-focused community with incentives to support artists directly without intermediaries.

Rightclearing features:

EASY: On rightclearing, anyone can license a song in only three steps. The previously complicated process has been reduced to its essential elements: finding songs and paying for the license. Both parties instantly receive a legal contract directly on completing the transaction.

INTUITIVE: The easiest way to describe music is with other music. Customers can just upload a song and will then be recommended similar licensed songs they can buy directly on the platform. They can also use keywords to further narrow the results or look for different music.

OPEN: Only the quality of music that will count. Everybody can integrate their music into the rightclearing system and the modern licensing structure means that even YouTube users can find suitable music at a reasonable price.

TRANSPARENT: All artists receive 100% of the price they set. The clear licensing structure means that customers understand the terms of the offer perfectly and also guaranties that large commercial projects will be charged accordingly

DECENTRALIZATION: Artists and labels can set up licensing shops on their websites and Facebook pages. This further increases the licensing potential, especially for semi-professionals.

MODERN: The licensing structure is based on the creative Commons Idea and manages to combine this with traditional Copyright. Artist can now monetize their Creative Commons licenses.

About restorm.com

The artist based music platform restorm.com develops professional solutions and online tools for the challenges faced in the music business. The free tools allow people to earn more money, generate more attention and save time, all at once. The platform is also a meeting place where bands, labels, event organizers, media and music lovers can connect to present their music, offer gig opportunities, raffle of tickets or just share their love of music About Rumblefish

Rumblefish is a pioneer in music licensing and has been a trusted provider of music for top TV shows, films, ad agencies and video games for over a decade. The company has always made artists and labels its priority, and has paid millions in royalties to its members for the licensed use of their music. Rumblefish launched the Music Licensing Store in 2006, dubbed “an iTunes for Corporate America” (CNBC). It was the world’s first online resource for 100 percent copyright-cleared music for businesses. In 2008 the company struck a landmark licensing deal with YouTube and in the summer of 2010 deepened that relationship with the launch of Friendly Music, a website where consumers can license soundtracks. The company now boasts the world’s largest music catalog for social media and diverse clientele including Animoto, Virtual Active, Amazon Studios, Kaiser Permanente and Google among others.

Peter Greenaway Looks at the Day Cinema Died

Cinema went into its death throes on September 31, 1983. The instrument of its demise? The video remote control. When the “zapper” endowed the viewer with the ability to play, pause, stop, fast-forward, and rewind at will, the medium’s artists lost their absolute control over the rhythm, duration, and other chronological subtleties of the cinematic experience. Or so filmmaker Peter Greenaway claims in this lecture at UC Berkeley. Anyone fan enough to read all the interviews the director has granted — and I count myself in the group — will by now be familiar with, even weary of, Greenaway’s ideas about cinema’s technical and economic straitjacketing, its arbitrary aesthetic boundaries, and its squandered potential as a freestanding art form. Nowhere else, though, does he explain and elaborate upon these ideas in such detail, or in such an entertainingly oratorical manner.

“The death of cinema,” though really knowing how dramatic that sounds, Greenaway frames what’s happened in another way: perhaps cinema has yet to be born. What if the last century or so has offered only the prologue to cinema, and modern filmmakers must take it upon themselves to bring the real thing into the world? These may strike you as the thoughts of a crackpot, and maybe they are, but watch and listen as Greenaway recounts the stunted development of the art form in which he works. We’ve grown so accustomed to the limitations of cinema, so his argument goes, that we don’t even feel the pressure of the “four tyrannies” that have lorded over it since the beginning: the frame, the text, the actor, and the camera. Even if you loathe Greenaway’s films, can you help asking yourself whether the rarely questioned dominance of an elite class of essentially theatrical performers, following textually conceived instructions, viewed from one perspective at a time through a simple rectangle, holds the movies back?

Since his feature-length debut The Falls in 1980, Greenaway has struggled against what he sees as the barriers put up by cinema’s unhealthy entanglement with the narrative-driven forms of theater and literature. Trained originally as a painter, he wonders explicitly in public and implicitly through his work why films can’t enjoy the same freedom to explore the creative space at their disposal that paintings do. All his pictures, even the best-known like The Draughtsman’s Contract; The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover; and 8½ Women, use settings, actors, images, words, and sounds like colors on a palette, applying them with infinitude of strokes, creating a whole from which no one element can be easily separated. In this lecture, Greenaway marshals footage from his projects conducted even farther out at the medium’s edge: his transformation of an actual Italian palace into one big non-narrative film, his collaborations with avant-garde composer David Lang, and, of course, his VJ-ing sessions.
